CHICAGO (October 2, 2012) – Two Sides today announced
that Dovetail Partners Inc. has joined the organization as an allied partner
and that Dovetail’s Executive Director Kathryn Fernholz will become a member of
the Two Sides U.S. Sustainability Committee.
“Dovetail’s science-based approach and reputation as a
trusted source of environmental information makes them a perfect fit with Two
Sides and our efforts to promote the responsible production, use and
sustainability of print and paper,” says Two Sides U.S. President Phil Riebel. “And we couldn’t be more thrilled to have
Katie Fernholz join our Sustainability Committee. Her wide-ranging experience and expertise in
development and natural resources issues, especially sustainable forestry
management, is a terrific addition to our committee of sustainability experts.”
“Dovetail’s mission is to provide authoritative
information about the impacts and trade-offs of environmental decisions,
including consumption choices, land use and policy alternatives,” says Fernholz. “Our collaboration with Two Sides will give
us new opportunities to help clarify complex environmental issues related to
the use of print and paper and in doing so, to increase people’s understanding of
and their capacity to make good business decisions related to this communications
medium.”
Paper is the most recycled commodity in the world. The
wood fiber used to make paper is one of the earth’s few truly renewable
resources. The demand for responsibly managed forests to make print and paper
products provides a long-term financial incentive for private landowners to
manage their lands sustainably instead of selling them for development. The print,
paper and mail value chain contributes millions of jobs to the U.S. economy.
